The first leg was played at Akron Stadium on March 6, where las Águilas took a 3-0 thrashing in Guadalajara thanks to goals from Julián Quiñones, Diego Valdés and Henry Martín. Alan Torres also received a red card for el Rebaño in the second half, leaving the defender unavailable to face Club América in the second leg.

Club América and Guadalajara faced off in the second leg at Azteca Stadium on Wednesday night. This time Chivas got off to a 2-0 lead in the first, coming within one goal of tying the aggregate scoreline.
Things changed in the second half however, as an own goal from Alan Mozo followed by a strike from Alejandro Zendejas put the match at 2-2 with 30 minutes left. Roberto Alvarado found the back of the net to make it 3-2 Chivas, but the team was eliminated from the CONCACAF Champions Cup due to the 5-3 aggregate.
